Why stay in Sant Martí, Vila Olimpica, Poblenou, or Diagonal Mar?

The neighbourhoods of Sant Martí, Vila Olimpica, Poblenou, and Diagonal Mar, are home to the majority of the city's beaches as well as a large number of sports centres and activities. They are very attractive places to stay in the city, especially if you are active. Due to the fact that visitors are more interested in staying in the direct city centre, the further you go away from the city centre in these areas, they become less crowded and prices for accommodation get lower, so there are places to suit every taste and budget here.

Recently, Sant Martí has went a transformation with the addition of the 22@ district, which is home to some of the most important businesses in the country and one of the reason many business travellers stay nearby (check out our accommodation in the area here). It boasts modern architecture, like Torre Agbar, which contracsts with some of the old buildings and attractions that can be found in the area, like Sant Martí Church..

All in all, these aren't very touristic areas (perhaps with the exception of Vila Olimpica), so you'll be able to get accustomed with the the local Barcelona way of life and become part of day to day living in the city.

How to get to Sant Martí from the Airport

There are several ways to reach Sant Martí from the airport:

• Train (Renfe): At the airport, you can catch the train to the city in Terminal 2 every 30 minutes. If your accommodation in Sant Martí is closer to the beach, then you should get off the train at Passeig de Gracia and then take the Yellow Line (L4) which runs all along the coastline, right up to Selva de Mar, El Maresme | Fòrum, or Besos. If where your staying is more inland, then get off at Clot-Aragó and take the Purple Line (L2) to St. Martí.
• Alternatively you can take the hassle out of arriving and leaving completely by booking a low-cost taxi in advance. The transfer will take you from the airport directly to the door of your apartment, just follow the instructions on this webpage of our site.
