Why rent an apartment in this area?
Eixample is a big district, split into two neigbourhoods, Eixample Dret and Eixample Esquerre, separated by "Carrer de Balmes". Eixample means "expansion" in Catalan and it was built as an expansion of Barcelona. It's a popular area to live in as it's central and residential.
Eixample Dret is divided into three zones: Classic Eixample Dret, Sagrada Familia, and Fort Pienç. These neighbourhoods have numerous art galleries, with a modernist style along the streets, and perfectly aligned blocks, all of which give character to the district.
By renting an apartment in Eixample Dret, you'll be well connected with the rest of the city in an apartment of about 70 sq m (755 sq ft). As the flats have multiple bedrooms, they are ideal for families and friends looking to stay in Barcelona.
Another reason to stay here is because there are lots of attractions in the district - many from the architect Antoni Gaudí - like the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, as well as Hospital Sant Pau by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. It also has Rambla de Catalunya and Avinguda de Gaudí, two avenues where you can find lots tapas bars and restaurants.
Although Eixample Dret is considered a central district, keep in mind that because it is so large, how central your apartment is depends on what part of district you stay in. For example, walking from top to bottom of the district can take about 30 minutes. However, public transport serves this area so well that you will not have to worry about that.
Another highlight of staying in Eixample Dret is that it is home to Passeig de Gracía, the city's most famous high-street. This avenue is full of designer brand stores as well as an El Corte Inglés department store at the end.
