On this page you will find a list of events in Barcelona as well as an event calendar with links that will take you to pages with more information. You can find shows, festivals, concerts, and sports events across the year.

The selection of events in Barcelona can be divided into four categories:

The trade fairs

Barcelona is a city that organises among the highest amount of trade fairs in Europe, this is because the venue, Fira de Barcelona, is the most important of the continent. It is made up of multiple exhibition halls over two locations Montjuïc and Gran Vía, with a total of almost 100 acres of space... About 75 football pitches.

All throughout the year trade shows pass through here one after the other, for all ages and tastes. Some of the most important fairs include:

Mobile World Congress Barcelona. The largest and most important mobile technology event in the world.
Alimentaria. An event for professionals in the food industry. Celebrated once every two years.
Feria del automóvil. Or Automobile Fair. For anyone who loves cars and vehicles, this event takes place once every two years.
Bridal Week. This is a huge international gathering of bridal fashion. Including wedding planning, bridal catwalks, and more.
BizBarcelona. Trade fair offering entrepreneurs solutions for their ideas and information of interest to get started with a new businesses or company.

The list is even longer and extends across many industries. These fairs are usually open to all and are international in scale. They are the easiest way keep ahead in your sector and are indispensable from a professional standpoint.

Festivals

Barcelona's festivals are many in number and always varied. The most important are:

Primavera Sound. Here you will find underground music taking centre stage, as well as new independent acts. All complimented with internationally renowned artists.
Sonar. An electronic and experimental music festival that unites artists of the genre from all over the world.
Sant Joan. The most anticipated night for partiers, when people take to the streets and beaches of the city to celebrate the arrival of summer around a campfire watching fireworks.
The Catalonia April Fair. Park del Fórum hosts this festival with traditional songs and dances.
La Mercè. This is Barcelona's official festival, organised by the city council each September. Here you will come face to face with giants, run from fire spitting demons, and watch human towers. It's a showing of Catalan culture that will amaze you!

Concerts

Barcelona is a global city making it a stop for many famous singers along their world tours. The biggest concerts in Barcelona take place at two iconic locations, which are Palau Sant Jordi and the Olympic Stadium. The Catalan capital has already had the honour of hosting stars including Madonna, Elton John, Coldplay, Adele, and Queen amongst others.

Sports

Sports play a key part in Catalan culture. Football fans unite at FC Barcelona's Camp Nou and the matches are followed closely in bars across the city, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere... If you support to correct team of course ;).

Other events that can be found in Barcelona are the Color Run, half marathon, F1 Catalonia Grand Prix, Moto-GP and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell tennis tournament.
