Here are 5 tips to avoid wasting time and money! For a quick summary, check out the infographic at the end of the article!
1. Not planning ahead
If you come to visit the capital of Catalonia, we will help you to find the best vacation rentals in barcelona. We offer apartments of different types, renovated and well furnished in all areas of Barcelona!
Avoid guided tours or the famous Bus touristique in Barcelona as they charge you a lot of money. The first thing to do when preparing a trip is to plan ahead. Read on the Internet about your destination and write down what attractions you want to visit. Then look at transport options and see how to get everywhere. It is also a good idea to buy entrance tickets in advance. Often it is cheaper to buy them online than at the entrance.
2. Paying for a whole travel package
A lot of people still book a complete travel package that combines a flight ticket, accommodation and airport transfer. Did you know that you can save a lot by buying everything separately? Look at cheap flight tickets from companies like Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling or Jet2. You may be surprised by the prices. It is not uncommon to find flight tickets for €30 or even less.
Look for hotel alternatives. Many of our apartments for instance are cheaper than hotels and offer more comfort, especially if you are traveling with a group. When you arrive at the airport you will have to find your way to your accommodation. Did you know that we offer a low-cost taxi that brings you from the airport straight to the front door of your apartment? Prices start from €6 per person.
3. Dining at the most touristic places
Restaurants and bars over charge tourists in touristic areas and often the food and service is worse. Most restaurants know that many tourists won't return. They prefer quick money over quality, therefore they often serve low-quality food for high prices. Try restaurants outside the direct city center, ask locals for advice or check out websites like Trip Advisor for reviews. If you're traveling to Barcelona, then for the best deal you should look for the day menus. Many restaurants in the afternoon have a so called “Menu del día” for around €10. In most cases the menu includes a drink and three courses.
Excursions in Barcelona
To make the most of Barcelona and fill your trip with unforgettable experiences and emotions, we offer you the excursions through the Catalan capital organized by our friends - the GetYourGuide team. Choose your excursion and fall in love with Barcelona:
4. Traveling during high season
During high season, prices are excessive. For both airline tickets and accommodation you easily pay 75% to 100% more than what you would pay during low season. If you are bound to a bank holiday you might consider taking the risk of booking at the last moment and take advantage of last minute offers. This tip (amongst others) is also mentioned in our 7 hacks for saving money on your Barcelona accommodation.
5. Using your Mobile
Using your mobile phone for making phone calls or browsing the internet can really add up. Also don't forget to deactivate data roaming as most phones stay connected to the internet even though you're not browsing. Most accommodation includes free internet. You can easily make free phone calls to your homeland over Skype or Facetime.
